Or notice the roses at all. Or really to consider whether or not I like the smell of roses enough to want to repeatedly smell them. But as this new year dawned, I vowed to take a fresh look at embracing and developing my own aesthetic. At that moment, I realized that the element of aesthetic was something I once understood, back when my spirituality really revolved around this notion of baraka which I learned from a Sufi art teacher. The moment I am free to acknowledge the difference in the way I feel about ancient dilapidated barns compared to beautifully design new banks, I see the world around me differently, as if those objects have love or life or chi or whathaveyou just dripping offa them.
Except that she is, unmistakably, Mardi Love. She is incredibly shy and has a bit of a hard time with all the compliments and attention that come with being a performer. What else can I say about Mardi? I admire her to no end. I've never met anyone who loves little chickens and little old lead toys so much, and she can make the most amazing lavender truffles I've ever had.
