Over the course of the series it becomes obvious that Sandstorm has fallen in love with Fireheart revealed in Rising Storm by her cousin Cinderpelt , [ 15 ] and by The Darkest Hour the two have become mates. She is also capable of being gentle, however, as seen by her interactions with Firestar, her children, Squirrelflight and Leafpool, and her grandchildren, Lionblaze, Hollyleaf, and Jayfeather.

She is noted as being the best hunter and one of the fastest runners in ThunderClan, and is an excellent fighter as well, resulting in her being present in many major battles. Sandstorm is a sleek [1] pale ginger she-cat [2] with barely visible stripes of darker fur [3] and large, pale green eyes. Sandstorm insisted on going with Firestar to rebuild SkyClan. She helped him rebuild SkyClan.

At the end of the book she has Firestar's kits, Leafkit and Squirrelkit. Sandpaw is an apprentice, being mentored by Whitestorm. When the clan is sitting vigil for Redtail , Firepaw and Graypaw go into the apprentice's den, where Sandpaw is in her nest.

Firepaw greets her, and Sandpaw nastily replies, tormenting Firepaw for his kittypet roots. Given all the rabies predictions before lost stars came out I really hope the Erins might have taken those into account and could work it into next arc seeing how hyped people were for a potential rabies plot.

I think the most realistic reason that no rabies has appeared so far is that warriors is apparently supposed to take place in the UK the recent books have thrown that in the air a little and rabies has been eradicated over here except in some bats, but if the Erins did want to remain relatively consistent with the UK setting, all it would take is someone catching an infected bat and getting bitten to potentially set the whole thing off.
